A 30-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her former boyfriend and colleague inside a private company’s office in Mohali on Thursday evening.
The victim, identified as Dimple, was a resident of Patiala. The accused, Harjinder Singh Mann, also known as Harry, allegedly attacked her after an argument at their workplace.
According to police, Dimple and Harjinder worked together at a private courier company and had been in a relationship for more than three years. However, the relationship had ended some time ago.
Investigators said Harjinder was reportedly unable to accept the breakup and had been trying to reconcile with Dimple. Police believe his repeated attempts were unsuccessful.
The incident took place at the company’s office, where an argument reportedly broke out between the two. Police said Harjinder allegedly attacked Dimple with a knife and stabbed her multiple times.
The attack was captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the office.
Some employees reportedly tried to stop the assault, but were unable to prevent the attack.
After attacking Dimple, Harjinder allegedly stabbed himself in an apparent attempt to end his life.
Employees immediately informed the police, who reached the spot and found both individuals seriously injured.
Both were rushed to Fortis Hospital for treatment. Doctors later declared Dimple dead, while Harjinder remains hospitalised in critical condition.
Police have registered a murder case and launched an investigation.
Officials said the crime scene has been sealed, forensic evidence has been collected, and CCTV footage is being examined to understand the exact sequence of events.
Police are also recording statements from witnesses and family members as part of the ongoing investigation.
The incident has shocked colleagues and employees, with authorities now working to determine all circumstances that led to the fatal attack.
