NationalDemocracy need to flourish in Pakistan: Mehbooba Mufti

Date:

New Delhi: Mehbooba Mufti, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, always remains in the media due to her statements. She has a soft corner for the separatist as well for Pakistan. She was the flag bearer of protest against the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Mehbooba Mufti, leader of the People’s Democratic Party and former Chief Minister, has given a statement about Pakistan today after Shehbaz Sharif of PMLN was elected as the new PM of Pakistan. Mehbooba said with restraint on the ongoing political crisis in Pakistan, she said that “Pakistan is our neighboring country and we want democracy to flourish there”.  She said I want democracy to be strong in neighboring countries as well. When Mehbooba Mufti, who came to attend a program from Srinagar, was asked about the political crisis in Pakistan, she said this.

Imran Khan’s government has fallen in Pakistan and today the National Assembly is to vote for the new PM. Meanwhile, Imran Khan has called a meeting of the parliamentary members of his party PTI, which is still going on. It is discussed that all the members of Imran Khan’s party PTI will resign collectively. If everything continues according to the rules in the National Assembly, then Shahbaz Sharif is sure to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Shahbaz Sharif is the brother of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Meanwhile, Mehbooba Mufti is annoyed with the Central government and PM Modi after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Yesterday, while attacking the central government, she alleged that the government was trying to destroy the economy of Jammu and Kashmir. Along with this, she accused BJP of suppressing the people of Jammu and Kashmir. She said that PM Modi is watching all this as a mute spectator. Mehbooba said, ‘I have no hope from the PM now.’

Mehbooba was Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in the PDP-BJP alliance. But BJP abandoned the alliance in June 2018 due to her sympathy for radicals and extremists of the valley.
