New Delhi: Severe cold continues in many areas of North India including the capital of the country. Meanwhile, Kashmir’s famous Dal Lake completely froze on Thursday. In fact, Wednesday night was the coldest night in the last 30 years in Srinagar.
Srinagar recorded minus 8.4 degree Celsius late in the night. It was the coldest night in the city after 1991 when the temperature was minus 11.8 degrees Celsius. At the same time, in 1995 the minimum temperature was minus 11.3 degree Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, Srinagar recorded the lowest temperature so far, minus 14.4 degrees Celsius. It was recorded in 1893.
