Ex RSS Pracharak Appointed Governor of Manipur

On Sunday, La Ganesan, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Tamil Nadu branch chief, was sworn in as the next governor of Manipur. According to President Ram Nath Kovind’s office, Ganesan’s appointment would take effect on the date he takes up his duties. Ganesan, a former pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), took over as Manipur’s 17th governor after Najma Heptulla stepped down earlier this month.

“The President has been pleased to nominate Shri La. Ganesan as Governor of Manipur, effective from the date he enters office,” stated Ajay Kumar Singh, the President’s press secretary. On August 10, Heptulla resigned, and the responsibility was passed to Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad on the same day.

Ganesan expressed his thanks by saying he was willing to work wherever in the country. “I am delighted that my efforts have been recognised. I am willing to work anywhere in India. “After my experience, I would feel as though India as a whole is one,” he added. The former Rajya Sabha MP allegedly courted controversy when commenting on residents’ demonstrations against hydrocarbon extraction at Neduvasal hamlet in Tamil Nadu’s Pudukkottai district. “There is nothing wrong with sacrificing Tamil Nadu for the development of India,” he had remarked.
