Lucknow: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Governor Anandiben Patel inaugurated ‘Mahila Samridhi Mahotsav’ in collaboration with NABARD and allied institutions King George Medical University, Lucknow University, Shakuntala Mishra University and APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, at Bara Lan, Raj Bhavan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that no development can be imagined without the upliftment of mother power. Because women are the axis of development of any society. The development of a woman means the development of an entire family. Therefore every section of the society should make its active and meaningful contribution towards the upliftment of women.
The Governor said that by educating women, they will also be able to fight various social evils like dowry, drug abuse, gender discrimination, because they will also be well acquainted with their ill effects. She said that every woman has to go through these social evils. Therefore educate your daughters so that they can avoid various social evils.
Smt. Anandiben Patel said that today women from 75 districts are present at the Raj Bhavan with their produce. She expressed happiness that she is becoming self-reliant as well as becoming financially strong.
On this occasion, the Governor directed NABARD that the amount should be more by presenting an approved letter of Rs one crore for organizing 10,000 rural women of Uttar Pradesh as 1,000 self-help groups.
