New Delhi: The Congress leaders took out a march and hoisted the Tricolour on the occasion of the country’s 76th year of Independence on Monday. A member of the Congress Working Committee Ambika Soni unfurled the national flag in the presence of former party president Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders.

Congress Working Committee member Ambika Soni unfurled the national flag in the presence of former party president Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders. Because the party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi is suffering from Covid-19, she was not present at the function. Those who were present on the occasion included Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Ambika Soni, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma and KC Venugopal. Besides the senior party leaders, thousands of Congress workers joined the march named Azadi Gaurav Yatra. In her message, Sonia Gandhi said that the party would make all efforts to misrepresent historical facts based on falsehoods. Sonia Gandhi’s attack came a day after the BJP released a video narrating its version of events that led to India’s partition in 1947. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera took a jibe at Modi for his statement on nepotism, claiming that Modi was talking about the internal politics of the BJP and attacking his own ministers.

The sons of some BJP leaders are occupying high positions in cricket and in politics, though they have no expertise in those areas, Khera said. Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by Azad, Sharma, Jairam Ramesh, party treasurer Pawan Kumar Bansal and Mohsina Kidwai. Khera said that Modi’s speech lacked energy and emotions. He said, “The country was expecting that the Prime Minister would present a report card of his eight years in power. It is said that the Prime Minister disappointed the entire country today.
