ED team questioned Congress leader Ahmed Patel in Sandesara scam case

New Delhi: A team of Enforcement Directorate (ED) reached the house of senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel on Saturday and questioned him in the Sandesara scam case. Ahmed Patel told the investigating agency that he is over 60 years of age, so he cannot go to the ED’s office for questioning.

According to ED officials, a team of three members reached the house of Ahmed Patel at 23 Mother Teresa Crescent. Team members were seen wearing masks and gloves as a precaution due to coronavirus. The team will record their statement under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PMLA). Earlier, the ED had called Patel twice for questioning but said that he was a senior citizen and could not come for questioning due to the Covid-19 guidelines. After this, the agency sent one of its teams to their house for questioning.

The ED claims that the Sandesara brothers have defrauded Indian banks more than Nirav Modi. Central agency sources said that during the investigation, Sterling Biotech Ltd. (SBL) / Sandesara Group and its main promoters, Nitin Sandesara, Chetan Sandesara and Deepti Sandesara, have committed fraudulent transactions of about Rs 14,500 crore with Indian banks, while Nirav Modi is accused of giving a blow of Rs 11,400 crore to Punjab National Bank.
