ED may quiz Sonia on Tuesday

NationalED may quiz Sonia on Tuesday

Date:

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) may summon Congress’s interim president Sonia Gandhi again around noon on Tuesday in connection with the National Herald case, sources said on Monday.  She was supposed to depose before the agency on Monday, but it was deferred by a day. On July 21, when she appeared before the probe agency for the first time the officials of the agency questioned her for two hours during which she replied to 28 questions. The ED is probing the alleged financial irregularities in giving funds to rescue the National Herald newspaper by giving funds through a company named Young India Private Limited.

According to sources in the ED, as Sonia Gandhi was diagnosed with covid-19 positive, protocols related to the disease will strictly followed as was done on July 21 when she was quizzed for the first time. Both her children Rahul and Priyank are set to accompany her to the ED office as they did on the first day of her quizzing. The Congress leaders have called the quizzing of Sonia Gandhi by the agency as a political vendetta.

As the Congress workers are protesting against quizzing of their leaders, the Delhi police have made adequate arrangements by deploying huge force. Before Sonia Gandhi, her son and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was also grilled by the ED. According to reports, Rahul stuck to his guns saying that his family did not acquire any assets of the National Herald newspaper.
