New Delhi/Bhopal: A quake measuring 4.3 on the Richter Scale hit Jabalpur and its nearby districts in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. There was, however, no loss of life or property. The earthquake was felt around 8.43am in different Jabalpur, Panchmarhi, Dindori, Mandla, Annupur, Balaghat and Umaria districts, sources in IMD said.
According to a report from Bhopal, the epicentre of the quake was near Dindori, at a depth of 10kms. The National Centre (NCS) for Seismology had tweeted that “an earthquake of 3.9 magnitude on the Richter Scale jolted Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur, Pachmarhi and other areas on Tuesday morning.”
NCS further said that the earthquake had an intensity of 10m depth and 23.28 latitudes with 80.35 longitudes. In the earlier hours of Tuesday, the movement of tectonic plates was felt near the Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh. It was recorded 3.7 on the Richter Scale. This was the second jolt of earthquake that Arunachal Pradesh received in the past one month.
