Party cites examples in which there was delay in selecting CM candidates

New Delhi: The Congress tore into the BJP for criticising it because of delay in deciding the chief minister in Karnataka.

The party also cited several examples in which the BJP failed to elect a chief minister even after several days of election.

Such things happened in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Assam.

In-charge of the party in Karnataka Randeep Surjewala said that a section of the media had fallen prey to ‘the fake news factory of the BJP on the formation of the next government in Karnataka’.

asking whether they had questioned the prime minister the same way when he took seven to 10 days in deciding on chief ministers in several states.

Surjewala wanted to know whether they put up the same question before Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he had taken seven to ten days to select chief ministerial candidate for Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Goa and many other states.

Surjewala advised the Congress men not to issue any statement on the leadership issue.

He said that any out-of-turn statement would be treated as an act indiscipline.

In a tweet, Jairam Ramesh said that in 2017, UP Vidhan Sabha election results were out on March 11, but Yogi Aditya Nath was appointed as chief minister on March 19, eight days later.

Several BJP leaders have criticised Congress for failing to appoint a chief minister, although the election results were out on May 13.

There are two chief ministerial candidates Siddaramaiah and DK Shivkumar.

Party president Mallikarjun Kharge held parleys with the legislators from Karnataka.
