CM Yogi Adityanath will not attend father’s funeral, appeals to follow lockdown

Lucknow: Anand Singh Bisht, father of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has passed away this morning at 10:44 am after a long illness. He was 89 years old. Due to deteriorating health, he was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi last month. CM Yogi Adityanath issued a statement saying that he would not be able to attend the funeral on Tuesday (April 21) due to the coronavirus epidemic. At the same time, he has appealed that at least people stay in the funeral procession following the lockdown.

In a statement, Yogi Adityanath said he would not be able to attend the last rites tomorrow because of the lockdown and his responsibilities in the fight against coronavirus. “I am very saddened to hear the news of my father’s death. My father has always taught me to be faithful, hardworking and selfless. I wanted to be with him in his final moments, but could not be due to my responsibility to protect Uttar Pradesh’s 23 crore people. I will not be able to attend the funeral tomorrow due to the lockdown to control the spread of coronavirus. I appeal to my mother and my relatives to follow the lockdown protocol while attending the funeral. I will visit after the lockdown ends , “said the Chief Minister.

After his death, preparations are being made for the last rites in Yamakeshwar. Looking at the VIP movement, two helipads have been built there. The body of CM Yogi’s father is being brought to Yamkeshwar by road from Delhi.
