New Delhi: After the skirmish on the Line of Actual Control between India and China, there was a lot of discussion about the Delhi-Mumbai highway. It is said that the tender has been awarded to the Chinese company to construct 5.6 km long underground portion on this proposed rail route. Voices were raised against it in social media. After this, the Central Government clarified the situation and said that the tender has not been finalized yet.
The statement issued by the central government said, ‘It is clear that it will be constructed from ADB’s fund. This will include the design and construction of a 5.6 km long tunnel passing through the TBM and an RRTS station. Tenders were sought for it on November 9 last year, which was technically opened on March 16.
Five companies have tendered for this project. They include SKEC (Korea) and Tata, STEC (China), L&T (India), Afcons (India) and GulermakAgir (Turkey). STEC (China) has given the cheapest tender. The central government made it clear that the tender has not been finalized yet. Further it is stated that ADB or World Bank or multi-lateral procurement guidelines do not allow discrimination between firm or country.
