New Delhi/Itanagar: The sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided 16 places in Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh as part of its investigation into a case connected with alleged leakage of question papers made for the examination for the post of assistant engineers in Arunachal Pradesh, official sources said on Friday.

The Arunachal Pradesh government removed and suspended officials of the state public service commission last week. The government took the decision two months after the question papers meant for the examination had leaked, sources further said.

Ten people, including the deputy secretary-cum-deputy controller of examination conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), have, so far, been arrested, sources said, adding that the commission conducted the examination for the post of assistant engineers (civil) on August 26 and 27 this year.

The CBI sleuths laid their hands on incriminating documents, including counterfeit stamps of the executive magistrate of Arunachal Pradesh, State Bank of India and hard discs connected with the scam. The case was first lodged against Akhilesh Yadav of Jeju Institute, Itanagar and a few unknown APPSC officials.

Chief Minister Prema Khandu recommended a CBI probe into the case. Khandu said that the government was determined to initiate the process of cleansing APPSC. Immediately after the scam came to light, chairman of the APPSC Nipo Nabam resigned on October 14, owning moral responsibility for the irregularities.
