Bhopal: A flag march with bulldozers, ahead of the final phase of the Panchayat elections, shocked a few residents in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on Friday. When they spoke to the officials of the district administration, they said that it was done to maintain peace during the election.

The administration took out a flag march of bulldozers to ensure free and fair elections and parked those bulldozers at a few police stations in highly sensitive areas of the district, officials said. During the flag march, the district administration made it clear that the houses of those who would be involved in violence during the elections would be pulled down.

An official said that when there was violence in the first phase of the polling, the people were worried. Violence occurred at several polling stations during the first phase of the Panchayat elections on June 25. A group of people also attacked the poll officials at some polling centres and snatched two ballot boxes and burnt some ballot papers, officials said.
