Bhopal: At a time when the Madhya Pradesh government is making tall claims over promoting welfare of tribal people, the body of a tribal woman was carried on a cot in Singrauli district of the state on Tuesday. The incident shocked the people, as only on Monday, a man carried the body of his mother on a motorcycle for cremation as the Shahdol district hospital denied him a hearse. According to reports, the man had to drive nearly 50km to take the body of his mother to home for cremation.

The woman Jagmati Pando, whose body was being taken on a cost, died of insect bite in a wooded area of the district. As no vehicle or ambulance was available, her family members carried the body on a cot. Aside from that, her family members said that they had to wait for 12 hours for the post-mortem of the body. The Congress has criticised the state government saying that all its claims over tribal welfare plans and health facilities have fallen flat.
