Rahul Gandhi says the Congress will have no relations with the TRS. The Telangana unit of the party has jointly taken a decision on not having any ties with the TRS.
Hyderabad: Congress’ Member of Parliament from Wayanad in Kerala has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) are buying legislators of other parties to influence elections with the dough that they get through graft. Rahul Gandhi, who held a press conference during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Rangareddy district of Telangana, said, “Where is this money coming from? It’s obviously coming from corruption and being distributed blatantly with no regard for any rule.”
Both the BJP and the TRS have similarities, Gandhi said, adding that both steal public money and use it to influence elections. He made the statement when he was asked to comment on a recent incident in which three alleged agents of the BJP were arrested for trying to woo four TRS legislators. He said that the Congress would have no ties with the TRS. The Telangana unit of the party jointly took the decision on not having any relations with the TRS, Gandhi said.
The Congress cannot withstand the corruption and approach of the TRS which is looting the people of Telangana, snatching lands of Dalits and tribals and privatising education and that the Congress is opposed to it, Gandhi said. He further said, “If Nitish Ji wants to talk to TRS that is his concern, his desire. He is welcome to that.” He made the statement when he was asked to speak on Bihar Chief Minister’s talks with TRS about opposition unity. When asked to comment about TRS’s decision to change its name to Bharat Rashtriya Samiti (BRS), Rahul Gandhi said every party has the right to decide its court of action.
