NationalBJP Takes Big Lead in Bengal, Crosses Majority Mark

Date:

In a major political development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in the West Bengal Assembly elections and has crossed the majority mark.

According to data from the Election Commission of India, the BJP is ahead in around 171 seats, which is well above the halfway mark of 147. On the other hand, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Mamata Banerjee, is trailing with about 83 seats.

If these trends continue, it would be a historic win for the BJP in West Bengal, a state where the TMC has been in power for the past 15 years.

The results show a strong shift in voter support, with BJP gaining a clear advantage across many constituencies.

However, voting in the Falta seat in South 24 Parganas will be held again on May 21, and counting for that seat will take place on May 24.

Overall, the election results so far are clearly in favour of the BJP, marking a significant moment in the state’s political landscape.
