NationalBJP only does horse-trading to stay in power: Soren

Ranchi: Jharkhand is in political turmoil, because Chief Minister Hemant Soren is facing disqualification of House membership for allegedly giving himself the mining lease. Soren, however, hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accusing it of doing horse-trading to oust his government as it did in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

The ruling party at the Centre only buy and sell legislators but his government works for people and is never involved in horse-trading, Soren said.

Soren also said that he was not worried about his chief ministership, but about the people of Jharkhand. Meanwhile, Congress leader and health minister Banna Gupta said that a conspiracy had been hatched to destabilise the government in the state. In the 81-member Jharkhand House, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has 30 legislators, Congress 18 MLAs and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) one. The ruling UPA coalition in Jharkhand is shifting its legislators to neighbouring Chhattisgarh so that the BJP cannot poach them.
