Biplab Deb Attack: Three Arrested by Tripura Police
Three individuals have been detained on suspicion of assassinating Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. The three guys drove a vehicle through the Chief Minister’s security perimeter when he was out for an evening walk near his official house on Shyamaprasad Mukerjee Lane on Thursday.
Mr. Deb was able to leap out of the way as the car sped past him, but one of his security employees was injured, according to them. The three guys were apprehended late Thursday night in the Kerchowmuhani Area, and the car was confiscated as well, according to the police. They have been charged with Attempt to Murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code.
The men were presented in the court of PP Paul, the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Tripura. The judge sentenced them to 14 days of judicial custody. After receiving life threats from the Myanmar-based international drug mafia in 2018 for his crackdown on drug cartels in Tripura, Biplab Deb is now protected by Z+ security.
According to the reports, the three males are Subham Saha (27), Aman Saha (25), and Goirik Ghosh (24). Prantosh Saha, Subham’s father, owns the car, which was being driven by Gairik Ghosh at the time of the accident. According to reports, Aman Saha’s father, Dipak Saha, a well-known builder in Tripura, attempted to sway the police.
The youngsters were taken to the police station in West Agartala, where a case was filed under sections 279, 427, 353, 332, and 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police have filed accusations of reckless driving, impeding government employees’ duties, wilfully hurting public employees, and attempted murder, and that they will appear in a local court on Friday.
The motivation of the three guys, all in their mid-20s, has yet to be determined, according to Assistant Public Prosecutor Bidyut Sutradhar.
