Mumbai: Passengers of the S4 coach of the Swaraj Express as well as the railway officials were shocked after they found the body of a young girl from Bihar in a toilet of the train compartment, sources in the Western Railway said on Sunday. Nevertheless, the incident was reported two hours after the train had left Bandra Terminus.
Therefore, the train was stopped at Dhanu Road station, Palghar. A few passengers said that they had informed the travelling ticket examiner (TTE) on board the train that the girl who had gone to the toilet did not return. As the door of the toilet was bolted from inside, the TTE’s efforts to break it open with the help of a few passengers failed.

Just as the train stopped at Palghar, the railway staff opened the door and found the girl lying on the floor of the toilet. A piece of cloth was around her neck, rail officials said.
With the help of her Aadhar card, the railway officials identified her as 20-year-old Arati Kumar from Bihar. The body was sent to the Cottage Hospital on Dahan Road for post-mortem, but it was not known whether it was a suicide or a murder or someone else was travelling with her on the train.
