NationalBengal House passes resolution against central probe agencies

Date:

Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not seem to be behind the alleged excesses by central agencies in West Benegal, said Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of the state. She said that a section of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders was responsible for such excesses for their self-interests.

She made the statement in the Assembly on Monday when her government passed a resolution against the central probe agencies’ excesses. The Chief Minister also appealed to the Prime Minister to separate the interests of the party from the government’s agenda.  Although the BJP opposed the resolution, it was passed by the assembly.

Mamata Banerjee, who is also the head of the Trinamool Congress, said that the present Union government was behaving like a dictatorial administration. She said that the resolution is not against anyone in particular but against the unfair functioning of central agencies.

Nevertheless, leader of the opposition Subhendu Adhikari said that such resolutions are against the rules and regulations of the House. The central agencies, like the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate are probing various cases in which several Trinamool Congress leaders are allegedly involved. Two senior ministers of the Mamata-led government are already in CBI and ED custody.
