Bhopal: Attacks on tribal women continued unabated in Madhya Pradesh. After a woman was set afire following a land dispute in the state, another tribal woman was thrashed and forced to carry her husband on her shoulders for having an alleged affair with another man. She was also forced to wear a garland of shoes. The incident which took place in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district on Sunday night came to light after it went viral on social media on Monday, the police said.
The police said that the woman reported missing from her house was found with a friend. When her husband and the members of her community came to know of it, they flew off the handle and decided to punish her. Initially, her husband brutally thrashed her before all the villagers. After that, she was forced to carry her husband on her shoulders.

According to reports, nine persons, including the woman’s husband, were booked for assaulting, rioting and outraging the modesty of the woman. Additional superintendent of police Suryakant Sharma said that after the woman went missing a week ago, her husband lodged a missing person’s report. But when he saw her in the house of her friend, he dragged her out of there and brutally beat her up. The friend of the woman lodged a complaint at the police station. She told the police that her husband used to torture her since her marriage at the age of 15, so she ran away from home. The police have begun an inquiry into the case.
