New Delhi: Public policy affairs head of social media company Facebook, Ankhi Das resigned from the post. She was in controversy over alleged bias in the matter of prohibiting hate comments on social media platforms.
Ajit Mohan, managing director of Facebook India, said in an e-mail statement, “Ankhi Das has decided to step down from his position on Facebook. He has taken this step to work according to his interest in public service. Ankhi is one of our old employees who played a key role in the growth of the company in India. She had been serving for over nine years. “
Das had been accused of allegedly opposing the BJP and other right-wing organizations enforcing rules prohibiting hate speech. He was also accused of posting messages in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Facebook group of company employees for many years. He has resigned from the post nearly two and a half months after the matter came to light.
