Indore (MP): Two boys aged 13 and 17 were tied to a vehicle and dragged on the road. Blows continued to rain on them. It was the ugly face of mob justice that the residents saw in Indore, the industrial capital of Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday. Both were writhing in pain and begging for mercy. But their pleas fell on deaf ears. A few passers-by, unable to bear the sight, shouted at the vehicle driver and stopped it. The boys’ only fault was that they had allegedly stolen money from the vehicle of a businessman, a resident of Khandwa, the police said.
According to assistant commissioner of police Nihit Upadhyay, the businessman came to Devi Ahilyabai Holkar fruit and vegetable market in Indore with sacks of onions. The boys were accused of appropriating cash kept in the businessman’s loading vehicle Upadhyay said.
A passer-by, in the meanwhile, made a video clip of the incident that occurred in the morning. As soon as it went viral on social media, the police plunged into action. The video clip of the incident shows that the boys were beaten up, tied to a vehicle and dragged on the road. The vehicle stopped only when a few passers-by shouted. He further said that the people’s conduct with the teenagers was unacceptable and that those who had been involved in it would be identified and punished.
