Manipur Assembly Election: 29 Manipur’s Singjamei seat will managed by women 

Imphal: All 29 polling booths in Manipur’s Singjamei seat, where the first phase of assembly elections will be held on February 27, will be run by women.

On Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Th Kirankumar Singh, who is also the district election officer for Imphal West, delivered the declaration.

Women would be in control of two voting stations in each constituency in the district, according to Singh. The Imphal West District has 377,290 registered voters, including 90 transgender people and 3,304 people with impairments. There are 1,099 women for every 1,000 men enrolled.

All election personnel will be examined for health, and Covid 19 vaccine is required for them, Singh stated.

Five teams of the Central Armed Police Force have arrived in the state, according to Superintendent of Police Shivakanta, and have begun patrolling, area dominance, and confidence-building exercises.

He claimed the district police recovered 19,113 litres of distilled indigenous country liquor, 1,156 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, 826 canes of beer, 122.59 kg of opium, 767 gm of brown sugar, 37.37 gm of heroin, and other intoxicant products between April last year and now.

The second round of voting will take place on March 3 and the ballots will be counted on March 10.
