Things you need to know about Dementia

21 September 2020 marks World Alzheimer’s Day and today’s theme is ‘Let’s talk about dementia’.

The aim of the day is to create awareness about dementia and the challenges that comes with while tackling the disease.

September is also considered as World Alzheimer’s month to make people informed about the global health problem.

The various stages of Alzheimer’s disease are as follows:
stage 1 – no impairment,
stage 2 – very mild decline,
stage 3 – mild decline,
stage 4 – moderate decline,
stage 5 – moderately severe decline,
stage 6 – severe decline and
stage 7 – very severe decline.

With early diagnosis, a patient’s condition can be improved and they can be protected from the severe stages of dementia.

Dementia is basically a group of thinking and social problems that affects everyday life of the individual.

It is commonly found in elderly people and the symptoms of dementia include forgetfulness, limited social skills and impaired thinking abilities.
