Simple life changes to prevent Lifestyle diseases

Obesity, heart-related issues, high blood pressure, different types of diabetes, different types of cancer, and death in young or middle-age are some of the growing health concerns in today’s post-coronavirus times. Although we have come past the pandemic’s deadly effects, we are still a long way to go to see the various other effects that can be adverse or mild in the coming years.

Why obesity ups CVD complications risk in Covid

Let’s not forget no boat sails in the same waves and there are ups and downs in every journey and that includes your health as well. If you have a family history of lifestyle-related diseases then you should practice more caution and get the needed professional and medical help beforehand to prevent further damage to your body and mind. For example, my father had type 2 diabetes and he passed away due to heart-related ailments. My elder brother too suffers from obesity and heart-related illnesses and so do I suffer from various health issues that are at a mild level.

Although we don’t do physical exercise like joining yoga classes or hitting a gym like others, we follow the Sattvic diet and do Indian exercises and that is nothing but doing our household chores with our hands and legs, which is not prevalent in today’s modern times in many households. Like we still use bus number 11 (i.e. our legs) to travel to our friend’s home which is just 2 km away from our home. We still mop the floors and use our hands to wash the toilet and bathrooms. Well, this is nothing big compared to the kind of workout that people do at the gym but we have much control over our tongue as compared to others.

We never eat outside foods. Everything we eat is fully and purely home-cooked meals, including the ghee, curd, and different types of masala powders that are utilized to make sambhar, rasam, etc. Our intake of foods is on a timely basis as in we follow a strict timetable of what time we eat our three times ka khana and we strictly go to bed for sleep at the same time and wake up around the same time. This is to ensure that not only what we eat is digested well as the timings are same but also give the needed relaxation to the mind so that we don’t fall sick often.

We usually prefer to go for homeopathy or ayurvedic medicines that are quite useful for us rather than jumping to taking pills for every small health issue that we face like cold, cough, headache, acidity, leg pain, etc. We try ghar ke nukse more than anything else. So, if there is a headache or immediate stomach pain due to the acid reflux that we have in our system, we try drinking hing water, jeera water and even eating badisoap than taking any other allopathic medicines. So, these are the simple lifestyle and sattvic thinking and eating standards that make us keep our doctors away for small reasons. We ensure to get a complete health checkup once every six months so that we can take the required precautions to avoid any major disease.
