Remember last year around the same time, we all were told by the government not to venture out of the house and stay home to fight the deadly disease coronavirus (Covid-19). Yes, it is almost one year now and we are currently in the second wave of coronavirus pandemic. Reading news today about the Maharashtra government planning to impose stricter lockdown measures in the coming days makes me really feel where are we heading?
So, last whole year, I just couldn’t do my shopping in my favorite malls, and neither could I watch a movie in PVR, nor could I visit my favorite temple and pray to the Lord. I hoped that as 2021 started, I could resume my favorite activities of visiting temples on regular basis and doing shopping at malls, and watching movies in theatres with friends. However, it seems the pandemic is not something that will allow us to live our lives like how we used to live in the pre-coronavirus era.
You cannot wish anyone to have a carefree life as everyone on WhatsApp or Facebook, only wishes you to take care, stay safe and stay home. No one in my social circle is willing to take the risk of their lives to meet anywhere outside in a restaurant or a park even if it is for an hour or so, as those times seem to have gone and we health and life-conscious people are back to following the guidelines issued by the government in terms of tackling with the coronavirus disease.
Yes, vaccines have come and hospitals are offering them for a fee and the government is offering it for free to senior citizens. Whether or not, we take our elderly parents for the vaccine seems to be a huge question mark as we hear various stories on the internet that say that vaccines didn’t help senior citizens but in fact made them suffer from various other illnesses. With so much information on the internet and so much negativity around that is making our stay at home, the question keeps popping in our minds of where are we really heading?
