- On this day Mountaineer Bhawna conquered the epitome of Mt Everest peak
Madhya Pradesh : Commemorating the golden day of her life, Madhya Pradesh mountaineer Bhawna Dehariya Mishra shared an unforgettable memory of scaling the highest peak of the world Mount Everest on May 22, 2019.
While sharing about her journey from having a dream of climbing Mt Everest to turning it into a reality. She opined that “Unfurling the national flag on the highest peak was the proudest moment for me. It gave me immense pleasure that my passion and persistent efforts made my country proud. After four years of interminable hard work, on 22 May 2019, I saw my dream come true when I actually realized that I am on the top of the world’s highest peak Mount Everest also called “Sagarmatha” in Nepal. I covered 8,848 meters to reach the peak.”
Bhawna is now not only a mountaineer but also a mother. She is managing both the responsibilities well, maintaining her fitness for her next expeditions while also living the most beautiful experience of her life-motherhood. She says “Alison Jane Hargreaves always intrigued me to stick to climbing even during pregnancy. She was six months pregnant with her first child when she climbed to Eiger (Alps). She is among those rare and first climbers who reached the summit of Everest without any support of Sherpas or even bottled oxygen on 13 August 1995.”
Throwing light on her mountaineering journey, she says “I first took up climbing during my careless school days in a small tribal-dominated area of Patalkot in Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh) district. Though professional climbing started a little late from Garhwal, Uttrakhand from a Glacier known as Dokriani bamak. I successfully scaled the highest mountain peak, Mount Everest, on May 22, 2019. I last climbed Mount Kosciuszko, Australia in March 2020. This was the year when I got married and thought of family planning. I have continued my fitness training during my pregnancy days too and delivered my healthy baby too. I believe that nothing is impossible in this world, all that you need is consistency, courage, determination, and passion towards your goal.”
“My mountain love will be cherished forever and my expeditions will also be continued further after the pandemic situation gets better. So that, my daughter would also be proud of her mother and learn how to chase her goal too.”
