Importance of mental health in Coronavirus times

Mental health is often not talked about openly because if you are crying over small things or get angry on silly matters easily then you will be easily termed as someone who needs treatment for mental well-being. However, over the last decade, we have seen many celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Ileana D’cruz, Vidya Balan, among others who have spoken openly about their issues while dealing with body-shaming, depression, stress, anxiety, etc.

In coronavirus pandemic times, when everyone has at least one challenge in their lives, it is important to openly speak about what is bothering us rather than hiding within us. Well, don’t get bothered about being tagged as emotional or having some problem in life by others. Kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna! You need to find out what is bothering you in your life and think of the possible solutions to overcome your crisis.

Don’t get bogged down by the changing lifestyles and nature of human beings in this pandemic. Sweet-spoken and soft-hearted people can also turn into hard-hearted if life has played too many games with them this pandemic. My cousin sister lost her mother in this pandemic and she had just delivered a baby boy three months prior to her mother’s death. Little did the newborn expect that he will no longer be able to meet his grandma due to the coronavirus infection.

My brother lost his well-paying job in this pandemic and after being jobless for months, he gathered the courage to take up a job in another state with the same package that he was working in his earlier job. Away from his wife and son, even he has to manage it all at his new rented home and new office. Adjustments take a toll on mental health – be it small or big. Not everyone knows how to keep smiling even in adverse circumstances and thus, mental health should be focused upon in the coming years, wherein people approach counselors and sort out their emotional issues so that doesn’t get manifested in the form of any major illness at the physical and mental level.
