Hygienic tips to keep your food safe this monsoon

As monsoon is here to stay for another one or two months, it is essential that we take extra care of ourselves in terms of what we eat and how we cook and eat foods. Buying fruits and vegetables in pandemic times is quite challenging for those who don’t go out of their homes on a daily basis. Thus, online vegetable shopping or buying vegetables in bulk once a week so that can be preserved in the refrigerator is a safe idea amid pandemic times.

Once the vegetables are brought home, don’t wash them all if you are not going to cook them immediately. Pick the ones that you are going to use to cook for the day and rest you can keep in the open air on a newspaper or a basket for a while before segregating and shifting them to the fridge.

The vegetables and fruits that you plan to use for the day must be washed thoroughly with running water or tank water and keep it in the open for it to dry so that when you cut them, it doesn’t become soggy as you try to bake them. Especially ladies finger veggie needs to be kept for a while after washing with water and before cutting the same so that it doesn’t let its water out and remains dry.

If you have brought leafy vegetables then make sure to wash them with salt water and wash them twice because in the rainy season comes to a lot of dirt and mud that gets attached to the green vegetables. So, it is always safe to wash properly before cutting and even after cutting them.
