Kanwariyas or Kanvaria are the ones who carry the Kanwar on both or one of their shoulders and sing praises of Lord Shiva during their whole journey to get the holy water of Ganga. This ritual is special on its own because you would find devotion and dedication to the Lord on the faces of its devotees that are all over the country and even the globe. 

Kanwar Yatra which is famous only across the northern belt of India is seeing the participation of devotees from other states as well. This year, after two long years of wait and patience, Lord Shiva’s devotees are able to participate in the Kanwar Yatra which started on 14th July and will end tomorrow on 26th July 2022. After all, the coronavirus pandemic fear was spread all over the country for 2020 and 2021 as well.

Recipe to prepare a Bhog to Lord Shiva

During the last year of the pre-pandemic times i.e. in 2019, Kanwar Yatra saw the participation of almost 36 million devotees who came to Haridwar from 10 states such as Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. They walked barefoot and even offered the Ganga water in the temples of Lord Shiva in their local areas.

So, this year, the tourism sector in Bihar has 11 information centres for guiding the pilgrims from Sultanganj to the Bihar-Jharkhand border who are going to Deoghar temple in Jharkhand during the Sawan month of the Hindu calendar. These information centres are open 24/7 so that Kanwariyas can be guided about the right road transport facilities and also get the required medical help. Apart from these, also the state government has created 20 mobile toilets for the pilgrims during the festival, and also transport facilities are made accessible at 16 points on the journey. Pre-recorded messages and live announcements are also made on the journey to the Deoghar temple. 

In another related news, a video has been going viral of how a police inspector in Uttar Pradesh has applied pain-relief spray on the legs of a Kanwariya who is a Lord Shiva’s devotee in Hapur region. The man was resting on the makeshift camp located in Hapur when this noble incident took place. Much senior police and administrative officials in different cities of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand have shown their interest in welcoming the Kanwariyas to their regions since 14th July. Some officers even showered flower petals in Meerut on the Kanwariyas recently.

Also, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday was shown to give a warm welcome to Kanwariyas in Haridwar, washed their feet, and also took their blessings. , washing their feet and taking their blessings. In order to make the Kanwar Yatra for the pilgrims and devotees, the state governments have made huge security arrangements. 

Indeed more and more spiritual and religious practices are being practiced in the post-pandemic times so that youngsters and devotees of different Gods can express their devotion and trust in the Supreme Power and remove the negativity and darkness from the world.
