How do you know if an elderly suffers from OCD?

OCD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a mental health problem that includes a person to have an obsession or compulsion in his or her behaviour.

Elderly are vulnerable population and are prone to suffer from mental health issues as and when they age.

Importance needs to be given to both mental and physical health conditions of the elderly and if left unchecked by the family members, it can create havoc in their daily lives.

If your elderly person has repetitive thoughts that are uncontrollable, are very strict or particular that things needs to happen in a certain way, spend a lot of their time on obsessions and compulsions, then there are high chances that they are suffering from OCD.

If your elderly person keeps checking time over and again, keeps checking their body from the doctor or with equipments at home about any illnesses, repeatedly keep cleaning bathrooms, kitchen areas with any requirement, keeps making plans of harming others or harming self, have mental compulsions such as reviewing others in a negative manner, then it is high time for you to consult a mental health professional and take the matter forward for the benefit of all the family members, including the elderly person.
