29 years old Kritika Pandey from Ranchi has recently won £5,000 at the 2020 Commonwealth Short Story Prize.
What made her win this amazing prize is her short story about a Hindu girl who falls in love with a Muslim boy.
The beautiful story was selected among the 5,000 entries from 49 countries at the contest.
The announcement of Kritika winning the short story prize was announced at an online ceremony and the award was presented by a team of 2020 judging panel, Ghanaian writer and editor Nii Ayikwei.
In short, Kritika’s contest story is about how friendship develops between a Hindu girl and a Muslim boy in India and how love blossoms between the two even though it shouldn’t.
After winning the prize, Kritika shared that she is very happy as it gave her the confidence that following her dreams in life was the right decision for her.
