Guru Nanak Jayanti, which is also called Gurpurab, is a festival of the Sikhs celebrated as the birthday of the first of their gurus who was Guru Nanak. Guru Nanak is the founder of Sikhism and played a vital role in shaping the Sikh community and making them strong. As per the Sikh literature, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak falls on the full moon day of the month of Kartik. Thus, Gurpurab or Guru Nanak’s Prakash Utsav is observed with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm among Sikhs all over the country. It can also be noted that Guru Nanak’s birthday is also observed on the 14th of April i.e. Vaisakhi by some people in the Sikh community. In 2022, Guru Nanak Jayanti will be observed on 8th November i.e. Tuesday.
