Gone are the days when we used to wake up in the early morning hours, complete our housework and run to the office to catch a train or bus so that we can be in the office on time. After slogging for 9 to 10 hours and then after returning to our home sweet home, all we can do is have dinner, help our kids or family members with their needs and just go to sleep. Quality time with family and friends used to be a part of Sundays or probably once in a month or months. That was the kind of hectic lifestyle that got disturbed since last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nowadays, the majority of the companies are posting for work from home full-time openings on the job portals. Weekly off remains Sunday only and you are again expected to complete the 9 to 10 hours of work from your home, instead of traveling to the office since now staying indoors is a safer option to stay away from the virus and many other illnesses.

Simple changes you would have to make to ensure that your work-from-home job is successful or else it would be soon enough that you put down your papers. First and foremost, you need to tell your family that you will be staying at home and doing your office work and hence, you won’t be available to their needs during your office hours, which can be fixed or flexible.

Now understanding family members’ support and non-supportive ones will create issues for the smooth functioning of your work. So, be prepared if the latter is your case. While you do your office work, you need to ensure that you take virtual coffee breaks with your colleagues once a day or at least thrice a week so that you don’t get bored or start feeling lonely. Avoid distractions like television, social media scrolling and train your mind this way that you can focus on your work even in the background of your family members doing their work.

If you are bored with the ways things are working out for you and the current situation at home, do not get bogged down. Read good books, perform prayers, listen to music, watch humorous and inspirational movies or serials and just be safe!
