The current education scenario where children are being encouraged to use the online medium to gain knowledge and continue their studies, seem to pose a challenge to not only common children but also the disabled students in India.
The global crisis of coronavirus has made BASIC EDUCATION a dream of many children all across the country.
Now when digital learning is a harsh reality of so many children, parents and teachers of regular schools, let’s think about those children, parents and teachers of disabled schools.
As per a latest study, disabled children in Odisha are dropping out of schools as digital learning is not something for them.
A concept needs to be taught in a particular way by a special educator for a disabled child – be it blind, deaf, physically disabled or mentally disabled. Thus, it seems digital learning is not a boon for disabled population of the country.
Thus, the government and activists working for the disability sector needs to come up with a innovative solution to fulfill the learning needs of disabled children.
We hope the best for such children whom we consider the bright minds of our country.
Disability is not a weakness but a strength of unique and special children. It’s all how we perceive such children. They need to be designed with solutions that suits their needs.
