Delhi youngster creates an app for people with autism

Autism is a severe developmental disorder that affects the ability to communicate and interact.

Recognizing the needs of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Shruti Kakar, a 17-year-old youngster from Delhi has come up with an innovative app.

The app aims to help people with ASD and allows them to communicate in a easier manner.

For the unaware, Shruti is a student for class 12 at Springdales School in Dhaula Kuan, Delhi.

She developed the app called We Can Express more than a year ago. Due to the pandemic’s closure of schools, she was finding it to manage time to design the app and also continue online classes.

However, after a while, she managed to successfully complete the work on the app and has now included the changes that were shared as feedback during her webinars with people.

The app’s idea came to Shruti after her experience at her school’s inclusive education centre wherein she worked with autistic children.

Her app has visual cues which now helps ASD to interact with others.
