The majority of us like to follow the trends. Like we have created a new world where only trends work. For example, if a celebrity has worn a hat then the trend of women wearing hats at parties catches up. If a celebrity starts cooking in lockdown and uploading videos on Instagram about her housework skills, then many would like to also show off to the online world that we are no less behind and upload our cooking skills on Instagram, Facebook with hashtags of the trends.

What trends on Google or social media get picked up by the news channels, media outlets, and even TV serials or web series to stay updated with the way things are changing in the world. We don’t want to be left out, so let us follow what others are doing – is how the world works. In my experience too, I have seen my cousins going for higher studies because their friends went for the same. It was in no way their ambition to slog hard to get higher grades in their exams but since their friends were doing it, they also wanted to give them the company and get company too. After all, who wants to be lonely in this world? So, follow what others are saying and doing – is actually the mindset behind every trend.

It is not that India has become a poor or developing country only after the coronavirus pandemic hit us hard. It has been so for many ages but the news of poor, needy, growing unemployment are highlighted more these days because after all, many are left out of work to discuss the national issues that have been bothering the country for more than a century. All these give us a new trend now to follow and that is to do charity and help the needy or poor wherever you see them or hear about them.
Now of course you are not a millionaire to write cheques for the poor, but at least you might have worn clothes or old books, some remaining food at home, which you can simply give to them whenever you see them on your way from now onwards. Simple acts of kindness and helping others with your knowledge and information are all great ways of reintroducing the concept of humanity at times when we are obsessed with materialistic gains and technological advancement.
