Best Gifts for Kids During Coronavirus Era

So, we are reading and hearing news about coronavirus or COVID-19 lockdown every now and then and in every state of India, there is an update of the increasing number of cases due to the relaxation of the norms or restrictions that were earlier placed to curb the virus.

I will tell you my story of how I am dealing with this coronavirus stuff for the last year. Nine months since the lockdown was imposed in Maharashtra from March 2020, I was under home-arrest. Traveled outside only to buy necessary food items and grocery stuff. Remaining all the time, I was busy taking care of the needs of my aged in-laws and family members.

Just when January 2021 started, I got a call from my school friend Neha who delivered a baby girl on 1st January, New Year really became happy for her and me as we were delighted to welcome a new member in our lives. But due to the restrictions of the lockdown, I thought it is best to tell my friend to take care of her health and meet her after a month. She also agreed and shared how eagerly she is waiting to see me and share her happiness.

Video calls are a good trend to talk and see each other, however, the human touch that one craves, cannot be fulfilled in this era. Then I started preparing myself to figure out what will be the best gifts for kids who are new-born and even younger in age between 5 to 10. I spoke to my family but the options they suggested were quite outdated as nowadays, we can’t expect these smart kids to enjoy the toys as the only source of entertainment as they are also locked up and are looking for more to do in their daily lives. For the newborn, I am restricted to gift her only a Baby powder and soap kit, however, I am here to share with you more unique options to give the kids something different as gifts during this coronavirus era.

The best things that came to my mind is thinking from a child’s psyche and I found out these as the cool gift options:

1) The child would always consider her or his parents as the first role models, so how about giving a custom pendant with the photos of her parents.

2) How about engaging the child to create something from his or her hands? Do you know a set of custom-made paper dolls can actually help them learn and make dolls of their choice?

3) A Kitchen set is readily available in the market. But how about teaching the child how to actually behave at home and help her or his mom with small tasks in the kitchen really make a difference? Yes, a video-tutorial set that actually teaches children basic mannerism and the importance of work at an early age can create wonders for the family.

4) Video tutorials on how children can learn crafts at home and make use of their painting and drawing skills in increasing their innovativeness.
