I feel at times that we humans have become so materialistic and practical-minded that we only know to cry and crib about what we don’t have in life. It becomes really difficult to even talk to a person who starts complaining since the time he or she gets up in the morning and ends the day with criticisms and bad thoughts for others.
Why Vikram Wadhwa feels like a cop in real life
So, I will take one case example here of a woman whom I know for the last three years. Her agenda is to follow the orthodox and outdated rituals and enjoy all the benefits that come in modern times. Like she wants to have an iPhone but she wants to follow the lifestyle of the 19th century. Highly hypocritical and when questioned about her polarized thoughts and beliefs, she will hit back at us saying ‘she knows everything’.
Stalker throws down Lucknow woman off roof
It was quite challenging for me to deal with this woman who would read newspapers and stay updated with the current trends but still talk nonsense and rubbish about the efforts of others. She showed me how the world really is and I realized that after living with her for three years.
In the world too, we will meet such types of people who will have everything they want in life but still be dissatisfied with their possessions. In fact, they would be so much obsessed with themselves and their stuff that they would hardly think about others’ well-being or benefit. Such sort of sick-minded thinking and stone-hearted people is what is making life so challenging for many soft-spoken and simple people.
So, my question to myself when the pandemic started and I was laid off from my well-paying job was “what if I cut down my unnecessary expenses for the next 5 years and focus on earning only that much for the stuff that truly matters to me”. This made me more self-actualized and I was able to take one day at a time during these testing times quite bravely. Sometimes “something is better than nothing”, “less is more”, “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”. When we embrace such high-thinking values, we will really love our life’s journey more than anything else.
