It was just on 19 April 2022 that World Liver Day was held in the country. As the name of the day suggests, it is about taking care of your liver health. The day marks the observances and activities that make people understand how to maintain a healthy liver. After all, the liver is really an important part of the human body that needs to function properly always. Here are some ways you can adopt to have a healthy liver.
1) Exercise and exercise:
Well, no one is telling you to hit the gym and get those six-pack abs (unless you plan to get into the modeling industry or your girlfriend has threatened that she will break up with you if you don't become fit). All you need to do is simple exercises that help you to get rid of obesity and excess weight in your body. Exercises and physical workouts can help relieve liver tension and also improve productivity. Lifting weights under the correct or professional guidance can help reduce body fat, keep good body weight and improve your metabolism levels.
2) Eat healthily and stay healthy:
People who have the habit of eating spicy and oily foods are usually the ones who suffer from major health issues in their later years. You can eat that vada pav or samosa when your mouth craves the same but do not eat junk food on a daily or regular basis as that is really harmful to your health. Your daily diet should be a mix of nutrients such as fiber, minerals, vitamins, fats, carbohydrates, proteins, water, etc. A person who consumes a balanced diet has a higher chance of having good liver health compared to the one who doesn't follow any diet routine.
3) No need to be an addict:
Yes, you read it right! You need to get rid of all your addictions if they come in the form of smoking, alcohol, drugs, substances, etc. as they are majorly responsible for the poor functioning of your liver. You can say goodbye to such friends and social circle who consider consuming the above and being an addict to improve their social status. If you think it is too late to quit these addictions, join a rehabilitation centre where you can get your habits to become normal and healthy.
If you are unsure of whether you have a healthy liver or not, you can simply get a liver function test done. The test will give you measurements of the levels of a range of things in your blood such as liver enzymes, proteins, and bilirubin among others. You can even check for different signs of damage or inflammation. A liver function test can also be done with the help of a home blood test.
The warning signs that will prompt you to get a liver test are dark urine color, pale stool color, itchy skin, legs and ankles getting swelled up, yellowish skin and eyes, abdominal pain, and swelling in the abdomen areas, chronic tiredness, nausea or vomiting.
