Author and Modi critic, Aatish Taseer got US citizenship

Washington: In an article written in the famous Time magazine, Atish Taseer, who was in controversy by calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘divider in chief’, has got US citizenship. Taseer has given this information by tweeting. Please tell that India had abolished the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status of Atish. This is the reason why Atish has mentioned that thing in his latest tweet.

In the tweet, Atish wrote that “some news: during the swearing-in ceremony in Lower Manhattan.” I have become an American citizen. That too in less than a year when Modi government took this status from me in India. It is wonderful to be a part of this great country. I hope I will be able to vote for the first time in the November election – for the big heart that I saw today. “

Let me tell you that in his cover story in Time magazine last year, Atish Taseer strongly criticized PM Modi and described him as India’s Divider in Chief. This article of Taseer was much disputed. Taseer, in his article in Time magazine, had made a critical comment on the functioning of PM Modi and compared Nehru’s socialism and India’s current social situation.

In this article, Taseer wrote that Narendra Modi did not express any desire to increase the feeling of brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims. According to Taseer, religious nationalism, feelings against Muslims and caste fanaticism were flourishing in the so-called liberal culture in India.
