American character actor Thomas Jefferson Byrd was shot and killed in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, says a report.
Thomas is known for his roles in many of Spike Lee’s films such as Clockers, Bamboozled, Ray and Brooklyn’s Finest.
Thomas died at the age of 70. The Atlanta police Homicide detectives are figuring out the reasons and situation behind Thomas’s death.
Some reports say that Thomas was found dead by the Atlanta police with multiple gunshot wounds in the early hours of Sunday.
Thomas has acted for all the mediums such as theatre, television and movies.
He was selected for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in the 2003 Broadway revival of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
