Iran selects Majid Majidi’s ‘Sun Children’ for Oscar nomination

The childhood labor drama “Sun Children” has won appreciation for Iran as it has been selected as the country’s representation for the Academy Awards best international feature film category.

The Sun, also acknowledged as Sun Children, is a 2020 Iranian drama film co-produced, co-written and directed by Majid Majidi.

This will be the sixth time that a movie directed by Majid Majidi has been chosen by Iran as its national representative for the Oscars.

The decision of the nomination was announced recently by an official representative of Iranian cinema to the Oscar ceremony.

The committee came to the decision after it screened 90 films. Other films as nomination includes drama “Walnut Tree,” “Yalda: A Night for Forgiveness” and “Careless Crime.”

The Sun Children is a story of small team of children who register to get educated throuhg a community organization. It highlights issues of child labour, ineqality and faulty education system of Iran.
