Amid the COVID-19 tension chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the situation and health structure in the country. The meeting was chaired after three cases of highly infectious Omicron subvariant, BF.7 have been detected in India so far. The first case was detected in Gujrat by Gujrat Biotechnology.

Earlier on Wednesday, a meeting was chaired by union minister Mansukh Mandaviya where it was decided that although there is no rapid surge in the cases the authorities need to keep a continuous observation of the situation.

Following which the government has also urged the people to follow proper Covid guidelines and wear masks in crowded places.

The union minister has further said that covid is not over yet and we must not keep our eyes shut against the current scenario across the world.

Following this, the minister also highlighted that no severity in cases has been observed so far. According to the information received the Secretary of Pharma and Ayush has been asked to keep a stock of important medicines as a precautionary measure.

Union Health secretary Rajesh Bhusan in his letter has asked to keep the data of the genome sequencing as it would further help in the timely detection of newer variants.
