Government lifts export ban on anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine

New Delhi: The Indian government has lifted the ban on the export of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and its formulations, the raw material used to make the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) gave this information. Let us know that the hydroxychloroquine drugs emerged in the early stages as the leading drug in the prevention and treatment of Covid-19.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DFFT) said in a notification, “The export policy for hydroxychloroquine API (active pharmaceutical ingredients) and its formulation has been changed and its exports have been exempted with immediate effect.”

Recently a top scientist of the World Health Organization said that it has been proved that the hydroxychloroquine, a malaria drug, is not effective in preventing the deaths of hospitalized people after being infected with the corona virus. Dr. Soumya Swaminathan says that this drug may have a role in preventing people from getting exposed to Kovid-19 infection.
