New Delhi: In a positive development for nation’s fight against Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the first confirmed Covid-19 patient from the national capital of New Delhi has fully recovered and has been discharged from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, reports Times of India.

Hailing from Mayur Vihar Phase II of New Delhi, the 45-years-old man had returned from a trip to Italy on 22 February. Thereafter he had gone on to interact with a host of people and even held a grand birthday celebration at Hyatt Hotel. Later, he was diagnosed diagnosed with Covid-19 and was placed under isolation in the hospital on 2 March.

Since then the authorities have traced 105 persons who the said patient had interacted prior to his diagnosis, of whom 41 belong to Delhi and the rest from outside the national capital. Of them, none have required hospital isolation so far. It should be noted that 19 samples have been sent for testing on a risk-ratification basis.

Meanwhile, following the recovery shown by the Delhi’s first confirmed case, officials have stressed that 80 per cent of the cases have shown only mild illness and that only elderly and those already with illnesses like diabetes and heart disease are at a higher risk of developing serious complications.
