Covid vaccine will be free in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Saturday that the Covid-19 vaccine will be made available free of cost in the state. In Kerala, 5,949 new cases of corona and 32 people died on Saturday. The Chief Minister said that the total number of cases in the state has increased to 6.64 lakh and the number of deaths has reached 2,594. In a press conference in Kannur, he said that no person will be charged for the vaccine. This is the decision of the government.

Kerala has joined the list of countries declaring free covid-19 vaccine for people living in their state. States like Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh had recently made similar announcements earlier. According to the central government, three covid-19 vaccines, Bharat Biotech, Serum Institute of India and Pfizer are under the consideration of the Indian drug regulator. It is expected that these vaccine candidates may soon be approved for use in emergency. Five vaccine candidates are in different stages of clinical trials in India.
