New Delhi: The total number of infected people has increased to 1,00,99,066 after 23,950 new cases of corona virus infection a day in the country, while the number of people recovering from infection has also increased to 96.63 lakh. This information has been given in the latest data released on Wednesday by the Ministry of Health.

The active COVID-19 caseload of India stood at 2,89,240 on Wednesday, the Union Health Ministry update said.

According to the latest data released till 8 am, the total number of dead has increased to 1,46,444 after the death of 333 patients. According to the ministry, 96,63,382 people have become free from infection, with the national rate of recovery coming down to 95.69 while the Covid-19 death rate is 1.45 percent. The number of patients undergoing Covid-19 remained below three lakh for the second consecutive day. According to the data, the number of under-treated patients in the country is 2,89,240, which is 2.86 percent of the total infected.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Sciences (ICMR), a total of 16,42,68,721 samples have been tested till 22 December. Of these, 10,98,164 samples were tested on Tuesday.
